Konobo Representative Marie Johnson has reaffirmed her commitment to development and community engagements upon being elected by her kinsmen in Grand Gedeh County.

With a two-day visit to Tchien Zonnee, Rep. Johnson, making her first-time visit since her election, used the tour as an opportunity to thank her constituents for their trust and support for her in 2023, where she emerged victorious among nine candidates vying for the Konobo Statutory District seat during the legislative elections.

On February 11, Rep. Johnson embarked on an extensive tour to Tchien Zonnee, holding interactive meetings with residents in various towns.

During these gatherings, she honored local leaders by gowning chairladies, chairmen, town leaders, youth leaders, women leaders, paramount chiefs, town chiefs, elders, and scores of other influential figures as a symbolic gesture recognizing their efforts in fostering peace and unity.

As a part of her campaign promises, Rep. Johnson initiated several key development projects to address pressing community needs.

She officially broke ground for a modern guesthouse in Beh Town, assuring residents of its swift completion. In Vlayee Town, she donated a hand pump to improve access to clean and safe drinking water.

Continuing her commitment to infrastructure, she provided six bundles of zinc to Togbalee Town for a town hall construction project and four bundles to Boduo Town for a similar initiative.

Her contributions were met with widespread jubilation, as residents praised her for being the first elected official to visit their region after assuming office.

Rep. Johnson’s dedication has strengthened her support base, with many pledging to reelect her in 2029.

Meanwhile, her next visit is expected to take her to Toffoi Town, Kanneh Clan, where she plans to break ground for another modern guesthouse.

To celebrate her first-year accomplishments in the Legislature, the people of Ziah Town, Konobo District, have organized a four-day event in her honor, beginning today, and that will include the slaughtering of two cows as a gesture of appreciation for her development efforts.

Notably, the projects undertaken by Rep. Johnson outside the Konobo Statutory District are not part of her legislative budget but are personally funded initiatives aimed at recognizing her constituents’ role in her victory and ensuring tangible progress in their communities.

Rep Johnson has once again taken steps to improve local infrastructure by providing long-lasting solar lights to eliminate darkness in the district seat by donating 40 solar lights in their communities.

This is not Rep. Johnson’s first lighting initiative.  It can be recalled that in 2022, while campaigning for the district representative seat, she installed over 500 solar lights across towns and villages in the Konobo Electoral District.

This major development effort played a significant role in winning the support of the electorate during the 2023 general elections.

The latest donation was made today during the official Thank-You ceremony in Ziah City, Konobo District.
