Liberty Party’s Political Leader Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence has called for calm, respect for the rule of law, and political settlement to resolve the crisis.
For nearly six months, Liberia’s House of Representatives has been embroiled in a leadership dispute that has increasingly threatened national governance and stability.
Senator Karnga-Lawrence expressed deep concern over the ongoing situation, warning that it risks undermining the core constitutional principle of coordination among the three branches of government.
“In the ingenuity of our Constitution, we have three separate but coordinate branches of government. Paralysis in one branch, as we are witnessing at the House of Representatives, has the tendency to defeat this principle and stall national development,” he emphasized.
Senator Karnga-Lawrence praised the President for acknowledging the Supreme Court’s recent ruling related to the leadership dispute.
She also commended the majority in the House for filing a motion for re-argument before the court, noting that such actions demonstrate respect for the rule of law; a cornerstone of Liberia’s democracy.
The Liberty Party urged all political actors and stakeholders to remain calm and allow the judicial process to reach its conclusion.
“We particularly call on both sides to the conflict at the House of Representatives to put the interests of the Liberian people first and consider mediation as the ultimate solution to the conflict,” Karnga-Lawrence said.
Senator Karnga-Lawrence also strongly condemned any attempts to exploit the impasse for political gains, warning that such actions could further deepen divisions and derail efforts to move the country forward.
