MCC, Public Works Clean Red-light Market …As Gov’t To Relocate Gorbachev Marketers

The Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) and the Ministry of Public Works have continue day four of the cleaning up exercise in Paynesville City with an assurance of relocating the Gorbachev Marketer to the newly constructed 14th Gorbachev Market within the same vicinity.Speaking to a team of journalists yesterday, the Monrovia City Mayor, Jefferson Koijee, said the relocation of the market will help decongest the marketers in order to leave the main street in Red-light.
Mayor Koijee mentioned that the process will cover the entire Red-light with an assurance that the filthy conditions experienced by commuters, customers and marketers will be curtailed.
Meanwhile, Mayor Koijee said President George Manneh Weah has given a mandate that only the Red-light and Gorbachev marketers are allowed to move into the newly constructed market hall.
The 14th Gorbachev Market located in the Omega Community construction cost about US$3.8 million funded by the Government of Japan.
The Public Works acting Minister, Ruth Collins, said that the process of relocating the marketers will soon begin at any time from now; mentioning that the relocation of the Gorbachev Market will also help importer have a better service to trade.
Even though the marketers are happy for the relocation, they dissatisfied that there is no warehouse to keep their goods in order for security purpose.
They are therefore pleading to the government to help in ensuring that warehouse s are constructed on the additional land at the site.
