ROBERTSFIELD, Margibi County (April 16, 2025)- the Management of the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA) is expected to embark on a five day assessment tour of major airstrips in Liberia.
This move, by the LAA administration is geared towards getting a fair appraisal of the current statuses of all domestic airports across the country and how management envisages to work with partners in the sector in making sure domestic air travel becomes an ideal and convenient means of transport.
The cracked team, headed by Hon. Mark E. Kuiah, Deputy Managing Director for Operations, of the Liberia Airport Authority is expected to tour the Tellewoyan Airstrip, in Voinjama, Lofa County, R.E. Murray Airstrip in Greenville Sinoe County, the Alexander Tubman Airstrip in Harper, Maryland County, among others.
Other members of the delegation include, Hon. Jonathan C. Enders, Deputy Managing Director for Technical Services, Liberia Airport Authority, Mr. Emmanuel Tarplah, Port Manager, James Spriggs Payne Airport, Mr. James Sarsih, Security Coordinator, Liberia Airport Authority, among others.
In recent years, there have been numerous calls for the revamping and rehabilitation of domestic airports across the country. Many believe, this agenda item, when prioritise, will enchance the movement of Liberians through domestic flights around the leeward counties.
This disclosure comes just days after the Liberia Airport Authority welcomed the news of the Turkish Government support for the revitalization of the Roberts International Airport, located in Harbel, Margibi County.
Excited by the news, the Management of the Liberia Airport Authority, has lauded the Government of Liberia, through its negotiating partner, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Sara B. Nyanti for cementing a commitment of high-level Technical and financial support from the Republic of Turkey for the reconditioning of the Roberts International Airport. Already, the LAA is overwhelmed and ready to work with the visiting Turkish delegation in country.
Highlighting the importance of the Turkish delegation visit to Liberia, LAA Managing Director, Hon. Jero H. Mends-Cole said, such partnership is a landmark opportunity to make contemporary the Roberts International Airport, which is the gateway for air transport in Liberia.
