D. Maxwell Kemayah has dishonored the Liberian Senate by failing to adhere to a call relative to the sexual and gender based violence issues reported at Liberian Embassies around the world.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs who was invited to appear before the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee on Friday, May 20, 2022 to address what the Committee terms as wide range of national concerns failed to show up.
River Gee County Senator Jonathan Sogbie, sometime ago, called on his colleagues to invite the Foreign Affairs Minister to respond to sexual violence issues with specific reference to the Nigerian Embassy concerning the 13-year-old girl’s rape issue.
However, addressing journalists on Friday in the Senate’s Chamber, where the hearing was scheduled to have taken place, the Chairperson of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, Maryland County Senator James P. Biney expressed disappointment over the Minister’s attitude which he said did not come with any notice to the Committee.
The Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs has expressed disappointment over the failure but vowed that “a report will be forwarded to the plenary for further advice.”
