The General Overseer of the Eagles Chapel Glorious Land International Church (ECGLI), Ben Zion Karbah, is encouraging the Government of Liberia to establish the War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia.
Speaking at his church in Caldwell Dixville, on Sunday April 21, he said that, the War Crimes Court will provide justice and heal to the victims of the war and the nation at large; adding, “Bringing the War Crimes Court will help to punish impunity and serve as a deterrent to those who would be trouble makers.”
“What is even more irritating, is that people who committed mayhem against the people of Liberia, were the same people during the just ended election campaign threatening to go back to the past if their side did not get the result they wanted,” he observed.
He stated that, perpetrators of war crimes continue to remind victims of the war by issuing threats, if the war and economic crimes court was established in the country.
As the debate for the establishment of the War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia continues to intensify, prominent Liberians and stakeholders have begun to weigh in with their views on the matter.
“Genuine repentance and change of attitudes from the alleged war crimes perpetrators has not taken place, so the court should be established to bring justice for the victims,” he narrated.
Karbah said, “Let’s forget it, syndrome has caused our country Liberia to still be backward and by disciplining others who have been recommended for persecution, it will make the rest of the other people be on their guide and do the right things.”
he expressed that, it is good to do infrastructure development, but developing the minds of the citizenry is more important, because they will in fact protect and even develop the country more.
Liberians need to stop rewarding people who have harmed the country and committed mayhem with positions, in the public sector.
He concluded, it is written in the Holy Bible, 1 Timothy 5:20 which says “Rebuke one so that others will fear”, stating that every mad man needs a treatment for total healing.
