The Liberia National Police (LNP) have charged three men in connection with an armed robbery that targeted a local businessman, believed to be Kadafee David, following a swift investigation and arrest operation in Grand Kru County.
The suspects—identified as Abraham Tweh, 24; Johnny Brown, 35; and Eric Toe, 39—were apprehended on May 5, 2025, at the Behwen Checkpoint while attempting to flee the area.
The alleged robbery took place a day earlier, on May 4, along the road between Buah Geeken and the Bolloh-Poe highway.
According to police sources, the suspects ambushed the victim, who was traveling on a motorcycle with his rider.
The attackers, wearing masks and armed with single-barrel guns, reportedly made away with a bag containing L$10 million, US$5,000, and approximately 100 grams of gold valued at over US$10,000.
During the arrest, officers recovered two single-barrel firearms believed to have been used in the robbery.
Investigators say a source tipped security personnel at the checkpoint, alleging that the perpetrators were carrying a large sum of money.
Further investigation revealed that the motorcycle used in the attack was registered to Eric Toe.
Under questioning, Toe allegedly confessed to orchestrating the heist, admitting that he planned the robbery, arranged the ambush, and supplied the firearms to another suspect, identified only as “Bobby,” police added.
The three men have been charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, theft of property, and illegal possession of firearms.
Police say each suspect received approximately $1,184,000 Liberian dollars from the stolen funds, while Bobby allegedly took the majority of the cash and gold.
Authorities confirmed that a significant portion of the stolen money and valuables has been recovered and returned to Mr. David in the presence of the local business chairman, concerned residents, and community leaders.
The Liberia National Police say the perpetrators are in pre-trial detention and will be forwarded to court for further investigations.
