The Monrovia Brewery Inc. has donated several anti-COVID-19 materials to support government’s efforts in defeating the virus in Liberia.
Making the pronouncement at the Company’s head offices on Bushrod Island on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, the Marketing Manager, Thelma Dennis Woods, said her company was taking its first step in buttressing government’s efforts and called on other private organizations to do the same.
“This is a serious situation in the country and so we are urging other institutions and companies in the private sector to join in this fight to save every Liberian life. If one Liberia dies, it affects all of us, so it is important that we all do not to sit back,” she said.
Madam Woods said though the health guidelines mandates that all entertainment spots and clubs are to be closed by 9 P.M and that affects her company, it is important that everyone observes all of the health protocols in order to save lives.
“When entertainment centers and bars are closing by 9 PM. that means we are losing customers or are losing business as well but this is not about selling liquors, it is about saving lives. We do not only sell liquors, we care about lives as well,” the young manager stated.
The Head of the Human Resource Department at the Corporation, Stephen Scott, said the donation was part of company’s corporate social responsibilities and that initially, the company donated to four government institutions including the Ministry of Health, the 14th Military Hospital, the Redemption Hospital as well as to the Office of the Governor of New Kru Town.
He named the materials donated as oxygen tanks, delta, tie-soap, clora, amongst others and said the company intends to do more and will not put a cap to the worth of the items donated.
On behalf of the recipients, the acting Health Officer at Redemption Hospital, Fascia Macaulay, thanked the Monrovia Brewery for the goodwill gestures and pointed out that the donation was timely and relevant revealing that the hospital was short of beds for patients.
