Jordan Ayew Celebrates New Year with Liberian Orphanage

Ghanaian football star Jordan Ayew celebrated the new year festivity brightening the lives of orphans in Liberia as they ring in the new year, reinforcing his commitment to community support and social responsibility.
The Leicester City forward, through his initiative Team Ayew Liberia, made a generous donation to the Rock of Divine Children’s Orphanage in Paynesville, Liberia. The donation, valued at $3,500, included essential items such as mattresses, bags of rice, cooking oil, milk, toiletries, cereals, laundry soap, drinking water, and more. The gesture is part of Ayew’s continued effort to give back to vulnerable communities.
Speaking at the handover event, Clarence Lee Chea, head of Team Ayew Liberia, highlighted Ayew’s unwavering passion for philanthropy, noting that this kind of charitable action runs deep in the Ayew family. Chea expressed his joy at seeing the children receive much-needed support during difficult times. “It’s overwhelming to witness this kind of generosity in a time of need. On behalf of Jordan Ayew, we want to say thank you for allowing us to share in this moment,” Chea said.
Chea also assured the orphanage staff and children that this would not be a one-off visit. “We hope this donation will allow the children to celebrate the new year with joy, but rest assure, we are committed to continuing our support for the children here,” he added. Additionally, plans are underway to renovate the orphanage’s school building, ensuring better facilities for the children’s future.
Jordan Ayew, though not a Liberian by birth, has always had a close bond with Liberia, having many Liberian friends growing up. His desire to support the country and its people stems from these connections and his belief in making a difference wherever possible.
The founder of the Rock of Divine Children’s Orphanage, Mother Fatu K. Smith, expressed deep gratitude for the timely donation. “These items came at a crucial time as we’ve been struggling to provide enough food and proper mattresses for the children,” she said. “We are truly thankful for Jordan’s heart for Liberia, and we hope that he continues to bless us with his support in the future. May God continue to bless him as he plays football and serves as an inspiration to others.”
Team Ayew Liberia’s charity work began in October 2024 with a similar donation at another orphanage and is set to continue with a focus on uplifting vulnerable communities.
Jordan Ayew’s act of kindness is not only a beacon of hope for the children at Rock of Divine but also a reminder of the power of philanthropy and the positive impact of giving back to those in need.
As the new year unfolds, Ayew’s efforts serve as an inspiration to others, demonstrating that even in difficult times, acts of kindness can bring about meaningful change.
