The Ministry of Commerce has assisted in properly disposing huge consignments of expired frozen food products in the warehouse of the First Frozen Food (FFF) Company in Ganta, Nimba County.
The management of the FFF officially turned over to officials and workers of Ministry of Commerce the expired frozen food which included cartoons of chicken feet, fish and chicken wings which were burnt near a town in Kpen in the presence of some officials from Ministry of Commerce, residents as well as members of the media assigned in the county.
The Ministry of Commerce Inspector, Nelson korquoi, said the company’s management wrote the Ministry few days ago informing them about the consignment of rotten frozen food in its warehouse in Ganta which posed threat to the residents in the county and the country in general.
Inspector korquoi revealed that the expired frozen food consisted of about 75 cartoons of fish, chicken wings, pig feet and other frozen food stuffs that could not be consumed by humans nor sold on the market.
The First Frozen Food Company headed by a group of Bangladeshis in Ganta city is engaged in the sale of frozen food.
For the past several weeks, it is observed that rotten and expired food stuffs have been floating in the Ganta general market and other local community markets without words from any Commerce officials, worker of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Ministry of Health in the county.
