By Bill W. Cooper
Several residents of Weala, Margibi County have honored Indian Businessman, Upjit Singh Sachdeva, for his outstanding humanitarian gestures in Liberia, precisely Margibi County, over the years.
Despite being successful in his business ventures, the residents said Sachdeva, alias ‘Jeety’, has never forgotten the importance of giving back to the community, and as such, the need to appreciate his philanthropic efforts can never be overemphasized.
Jeety received the honor on Christmas Day, when he and his team fed over 3,000 children in commemoration of Christmas, demonstrating his commitment to creating a positive impact on the Liberian society.
Jeety, as part of his usual activities, also fed over 1,000 inmates with hot meals, water, and soft drinks, coupled with the donation of additional plates and spoons at the Monrovia Central Prison (South Beach), including several disadvantaged youths (Zogoes) in Monrovia.
Remarking, during the gowning of Sachdeva, Cinta Township Commissioner, Roland Johnson, said their decision is a demonstration of the good they continue to receive from the Indian business tycoon in their community.
Commissioner Johnson furthered that their decision is a demonstration of the fact that Jeety’s philanthropic efforts have not gone unnoticed by them as direct beneficiaries of his kindness.
Johnson noted that Jeety’s contributions to the welfare of the less fortunate and prisoners in Monrovia, as well as the people of Weala and the country at large, have already earned him respect and admiration from both locals and authorities across Margibi County.
The Commissioner, whose face was filled with joy, further thanked Jeety and his team for the construction of Jeety Rubber LLC factory in Weala and the installation of running water, noting that the facility has already begun boosting the local economy, as well as providing thousands of jobs for the residents of Weala and its surroundings.
He then extolled the government for creating an environment that allows investments to flourish, asserting, “Jeety Rubber LLC facility is a statement of the love and concern he has for this country and its people.”
“Hence, we from this community want to thank you, Jeety, and we love and appreciate all that you are doing for our country and its citizenry,” he said.
In response, Jeety thanked the residents for the gift and honor bestowed upon him, and emphasized the need for those he described as the country’s future leaders to be celebrated and catered to.
Recognizing Christmas can be a difficult time for those who lack parental care or live in challenging circumstances, he also disclosed that he and his team are committed to ensuring that smiles are put on the faces of the children every big day.
Meanwhile, to ensure that the children experienced a glimmer of hope and happiness during the festive season, Jeety and team further organized a heartwarming children party, ensuring that all of the kids in attendance felt the love and joy of Christmas.
Jeety, collaborating with the county’s local authority and volunteers, further arranged the party complete with decorations, gifts, and entertainment, as the joy and smiles on the children’s faces were a testament to the impact Jeety’s gestures had on their lives.
The honor bestowed upon Jeety is a testament to his selflessness and dedication to the welfare of others, and with his unwavering support for prisoners and children during holidays, has throughout the year, showcased his deep understanding of the challenges faced by some Liberians.
Furthermore, his contributions have undoubtedly left an indelible mark on the lives of those he has reached out to, serving as an inspiration for others to follow in his footsteps.
