VP Taylor Seeks Treatment In Ghana

Liberia’s Vice President, Jewel Howard-Taylor, was on Tuesday August 11, flown out of the country to seek additional medical care at a specialist hospital in Accra, Ghana.
According to the Office of the Vice President, VP Howard-Taylor was earlier admitted at the Aspen Medical Facility in Sinkor, Monrovia, on Friday August 7, 2020, due to respiratory complications.
Having favorably responded to treatment and the state of her health stabilized, it was advised that the Vice President seeks further medical attention at a more advanced facility with specialty in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory ailments.
However, according to our source, the Vice President was expected to left along with a 12-member team to undergo her medical treatment as the Executive Branch of government on yesterday completed a budgetary allotment to facilitate the Vice President’s travel.
It can be recalled that during the signing of the Book of Condolence for Rep. Munah Pelham-Youngblood on last Thursday, VP Taylor apparently was not well even though it was observed that the protocol at that event did not secure a seat for her; something that raised eyebrows giving a signal that the Coalition’s political beef was re-emerging.
But our sources attributed Vice President Taylor’s absence at the funeral ceremony of Representative Pelham-Youngblood to her illness and confirmed that will have to be flown abroad as the only sticky issue might have been the approval of the budget for her and the number of people that should accompany her.
However, other sources said Vice President Taylor might not be ill as it is being speculated but that she is exasperated due to the disrespect showed her during the signing ceremony of the District #9 Representative book of condolence.
Our reporter also observed that the Senate Pro-temp, Prof. Albert T. Chie left his seat for Vice President Taylor to be seated because there was no seat, whether it was deliberate or not, the leadership is yet to speak to that.
