Vice President Jeremiah Koung is calling on citizens in upper and lower Nimba to vote for representative Samuel Kogar in the by-senatorial election.
Speaking to residents on spoon TV in Graie Town, VP Koung says Representative Kogar was earlier recommended by the late senator Prince Johnson while he was still alive to replace him as the next senator in the county.
According to VP Koung , the House of Senate should be represented by the two mayor tribes Gio and Mano ethnic group from the county.
” Senator Nyan Tuayen is from the Mano ethnic group , therefore , Representative Kogar is the best choice to represent the Gio tribe in the upper House of Senate ,” Vice President Koung stated .
Vice President Koung message has spark political tension about preaching tribal and decisive politics in the county. The VP’s role has further feud concern among the seven senatorial candidates vying for the senatorial seat in the county .
Representative Samuel Kogar is strongly backed by the Executive Branch of government. The other contenders in the race have expressed concerns for the open support from President Boakai , VP Koung, along with superintendent Kou Gono and the local authorities respectively.
Speaking on Truth FM in Saclepea, Representative Musa Bility, warned Vice President Koung to distance himself from local politics and concentrate on national issues.
Speaking on behalf of the opposition senatorial candidates, Mack Gblinwon condemned the local county administration for preaching ethnicity and tribalism.
Electorates in Nimba will on April 22 , 2025, go to the polls to elect a senator from among the seven candidates vying for the vacant senatorial seat following the death of Senator Prince Y. Johnson.
