A Non-Governmental Organization, the Varney Taylor Foundation, has donated several coronavirus preventive materials in the tune of US$1,000 to the only referral hospital in River Cess County.
The donation which was done over the weekend is intended to buttress the hospital’s effort in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
Items donated included Thermometer; hand liquid soap; clorax; tide soap; pulse oxymeter; BP cuff; alcohol; hand sanitizer; rexoguard; biohazard bag; clorine and tissues.
Presenting the items on behalf of its founder, Varney B. Taylor, the organization’s National Director, Marvin Davis stated that the donation is his organization’s own way of buttressing government’s effort to combat the COVID-19 in the country.
Mr. Davis explained that their decision to identify with a hospital in River Cess County is due to the limited/inadequate medical supplies that the county has been receiving over the years.
According to him, the need for St. Francis which is the only referral hospital in River Cess to be identified with at such critical time can never be overemphasized owing to the fact that since the third wave of the virus, there has been no donation from any Liberian to the hospital.
He added, “Our organization, being a charity entity, saw the need to have done so. Every money that is being put in this work is from our CEO’s pocket and not from government or any political figure.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Davies has further disclosed his organization’s plan to decentralize its gestures across the county and the entire country at large, while at the same time revealed plans of dedicating a clinic by his organization in Bomi County at the end of the year.
Receiving the items, the County Health Officer, Dr. Joseph Tokpor lauded the organization and team for the donation, noting that it was timely amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
He however called on other well-meaning Liberians to emulate the example of the Varney Taylor Foundation to become a blessing for other health facilities in the country.
The Varney Taylor Foundation is an American based organization that was birthed in Liberia in 2017, with the sole purpose of reaching out to the unreachable across Liberia.
