ULSU; Stella, Others Face
Defeat At Summit Tournament

Several youth groups representing student movements have participated in a mini tournament to climax the National Youth and Students Summit.


The tournament witnessed the participation of students from the University of Liberia Students Union (ULSU), Stella Maris Polytechnic, African Methodist Episcopal Zion University (AMEZU), and Young African Leadership Institute (YALI).


Others are Mano River Union (MRU) team, the Liberia National Students Union LINSU, LINSU National Administrative Counsel (NAC) team the African Methodist Episcopal University (AMEU) and girls teams representing LINSU organizers and delegates.


In the Kickball edition, the girls representing the delegates pulled relentlessly all energy from their organizer and defeated them by 13-6 home runs a margin of seven innings.


Knocking horns in the soccer category of the Summit tournament over the weekend at the Invincible Sports Park, ULSU was defeated by YALI 2-0 in round one while LINSU won the NAC 1-0 to advance to the next stage and Stella lost to Zion on penalties 5-2 and the MRU team lost to AMEU 3-0.


At the conclusion of all Fixtures, LINSU was crowned Champions of the Summit Tournament after reports of YALI leaving during the Semi-finals on grounds of pressing fixture.


After the finals, LINSU director for press and public affairs who captained the team to victory expressed LINSU gratitude for the successful completion activities at the National Youth and students Summit.


Henry Jerome Varfee said 300 delegates from across the country joined the spicy opportunistic event that led to the joyous display of talents during the sport jamboree.


LINSU organized sport event to conclude the first ever national youth and student summit as a mechanism to stress-free the minds of the young people found at the event ensuring that a unifying and networking spirit come among them all.


“This Program is a signature project of LINSU that has brought together 300 delegates from the 15 counties for four days and ending it today with the level of sportsmanship seen so far is a joy to the students’ community,” he averred.
