The University of Liberia Faculty Association (ULFA) is poised to hold an emergency general assembly next Friday, July 21, 2023.
In a press release, Thursday, bearing the signature of ULFA Secretary General Eric T. S. Patten, the association’s leadership invites all of its members to turnout in their numbers.
According to the release, the GA, which is the highest decision making body of the association, will be held at the auditorium of the University of Liberia, up Capitol Hill in Monrovia.
It can be recalled that on June 23, 2023, ULFA General Assembly made a decision to disengage from all activities until several demands catalogued in their resolution were met.
As a consequence of this decision, all ULFA members withdrew from all academic activities.
It is unclear as to whether the members and executives of ULFA will now consider returning to normal academic activities, as it is being speculated that the UL is expected to reopen on July 31, 2023.
However, the statement said after several discussions with state actors and Executive Committee deliberations, the ULFA members have resolved to hold the GA.
The release added that the General Assembly is meant for further deliberations and actions based on the current state of results from these discussions.
Meanwhile, ULFA has urged its members to take seriously the called General Assembly, stressing that the gathering will resolve to reach some critical decisions.
