“They are Not Serious, If…”
Bishop Donyen Tells Evaluators

The Bishop of the Independent Catholic Church of Liberia (ICCL), Nimely Jacobokly Donyen, says if people are still evaluating him when it comes to the implementation of development projects, then they are not serious.
He jabbed evaluators when he dedicated the New Israel Community Road which was recently rehabilitated by him at a cost of US$4,088 over the weekend in the Township of Lower Johnsonville.
Recounting the implementation of several towering development projects in the Township of Johnsonville and other parts of District 2 in Montserrado County, he reminded his constituents about the 1, 600 foot-long bridge that connects the New Life to the Kparwein Communities in February, 2022 saying that previously he constructed a wooden bridge that now connects Bardnesville to the Bassa and Pepperwulu Town Communities.
He added that he also constructed the Nimba United Market in Mount Barclay, the Neckley Town Market among others indicating, “I rehabilitated several community roads in the Red Hill Communities during the raining season in 2021.”
Other projects that Bishop Donyen outlined as proof of his developmental initiatives were the provision of 886 faucet buckets with 10 bottles of chloride and 24 sacks of tide soap in each bucket respectively along with 1000 bags of 25kg bags of rice during the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
“I am presently running micro loan program for marketeers in the district; I have provided over 26 scholarships to high school graduates to enroll at the University of Liberia (UL) for the 2021/ 2022 Academic Year,” he continued.
Bishop Donyen then informed the gathering that the above listed projects are synopsis of the many tangible projects that he has successfully undertaken in every segment of District 2 in Montserado County.
Speaking further, the ICCL Clergy firmly intimated that those who are still evaluating him relative to developmental and humanitarian services are only pretending because they have hidden motive so he challenged them to prove him wrong adding that they should rather be asking themselves as to which project that he will dedicate after the road.
He told the excited residents of the New Israel Community that the explanations from them cataloging the difficulties that they endured over the years due to the deplorable condition of their road can be likened to the Jews when they were in captivity in Egypt where they were looking at the promise land across the Red Sea but they were unable to reach there.
“With respect to the New Israel’s scenario when the people were constantly being separated during the raining season which has been posing serious hindrance to their movements as they could look at the promise land, which is the paved road but they were not able to get there due to the road being cut-off as the situation has always been compounded by flood,” he pointed out.
He then assured the people of the New Israel Community that the issue of the appalling condition of their road is now a history so they should begin to work as a unit because they are striving toward achieving one goal.
“You can start using this as we continue to work together, we can even raise the road above this level and add crushed rock. By now we supposed to have had own earth moving equipment in the district but things will get better,” he encouraged the residents.
Bishop Donyen, who is widely referred to by the people as ‘Talk and Do’ for fulfilling all promised project assured the community leadership that their request for the extension of the road will be given to God because He is the provider of the funds.
“God made water before any other thing in the world which indicates its importance to life so if someone denies you water, that person is very wicked. I connected the Red Hill and adjacent communities with pipe borne water for more than US$19,000 and evil people prevented the people from benefiting from it since five years running while they continue to suffer for water. But no sin goes unpunished,” he maintained.
The Chairperson of the New Israel Community, Joel B. Gayflor commended Bishop Donyen for implementing what he calls impactful project and lauded the community leadership for the perfect coordination that made the project successful.
He said that he is a political Reverend so in their political engagements, they believe in deliverables stressing that they will not support any politician who want to be their leader and he or she is doing mini projects.
According to him, they will evaluate each and every politician so as to correct the past mistake that was made in the past.
“You need to show your capacity to the people of the district as a testament that you will deliver when we elect you.
We are looking for politician who started with the people and ends with them,” he emphasized.
The Chairperson of New Israel Community, Mother Tenneh Duofuah stated that words are inadequate for her to express how they are extremely excited about Bishop Donyen’s timely intervention on their road as the raining season is already in sight.
She said the road has been a serious challenge for them noting that she was carrying her grandchild to school in 2014 and they fell into the muddy water as the result of the flood.
“We consider the Bishop as our savior because he has delivered our community from mobility constraint that has been posing as a nightmare to us. We will forever remember the Bishop and this community is now referred to his stronghold,” she intimated
The youths leader of the New Israel Community, Varney Kiatamba expressed appreciation to Bishop Doyen for the project asserting that they used observe compulsory holidays when the raining intensifies due to the fact that they must undress themselves before attempting to across.
Mr. Kiatamba indicated that the road is very essential because it connects Mount Barclay to Fendell including Omega and other areas.
He then pleaded with Bishop Donyen to extend the rehabilitation process beyond their area according to him, those who are residing behind the hill are also facing similar problem.
“The people are always facing difficulty to transport their building materials to their houses. They usually paid people to carry those material for them and as such, the labor cost sometimes goes above the actual materials cost which is very challenging for,” he disclosed.
For his part, the leader of Block A, Prince Newah, extolled Bishop Donyen for coming to their aid and his colleagues for contributing positively towards the realization of their road and encouraged them so that that they can remain united.
