Liberia Football Association Second Division outfit, Blackman Warriors Football Club, kickstarted their tour in Azerbaijan with a hard-fought draw.
The Liberian club is currently in the European country on a two-week trial.
Warriors left Liberia on January 5 and reached Baku on January 9, 2024, and while there, they will have several friendly matches with clubs in that part of the world, all in a move to create opportunities for Liberian players.
BMW and Moldovan top-flight club, Dinamo Youth team, played out a 1-1 draw in a friendly game in Baku, on Wednesday January 10, 2024, at the Abseron Olimpiya Idman Sports Pitch.
Francis Doe scored the Warriors’ goal in their first friendly game in Azerbaijan to seal a point in their first of many matches to come.
It was a spectacular performance from the visitors who controlled the match but could not get a win because their players were apparently not used to the cold weather.
The Liberian Second Division side is expected to participate in more actions in the coming days with top clubs.
Black Man Warriors’ 21-man delegation was warmly welcomed to Baku, Azerbaijan upon arrival on Tuesday.
The delegation was received by Agent, Hamed Daghestani, Reza Ebrahimi, Omid Jalali, Omid Jalali, and others who presented flowers to each member of the delegation.
The Blackman Warriors’ delegation is headed by JK Academic Agency CEO, Julius Jay Kwateh.
The team, accompanied by the club’s General Secretary, George Elliot, and Administrative Manager, Albert Sarweah, first traveled to Ivory Coast, where they stayed for two days, before catching a flight to Azerbaijan.
