In a major boost to healthcare services in Grand Bassa County, the newly established Sight First Eye Clinic, officially opened its doors in Buchanan.

Located in the Watco Camp area, the clinic marks a critical step forward in addressing the growing demand for quality eye care in the region.

The launch of Sight First has been welcomed with enthusiasm by both local officials and residents, many of whom have long grappled with limited access to specialized eye treatment. The clinic aims to bridge this gap by offering a full range of services, including comprehensive eye exams, surgeries, treatment for various eye diseases and infections, and affordable prescription eyewear.

According to Standee, the clinic’s administrator, Sight First has its roots in Liberia dating back to 2016.

It first began operations in Bomi County before gradually expanding to other regions.

The decision to bring the facility to Buchanan was made after a detailed assessment revealed a pressing need for better eye care services in Grand Bassa.

“After carefully studying the healthcare landscape here, we recognized a significant gap in eye health services,” Standee told reporters at the launch event. “We’re excited to bring our expertise and resources to Buchanan and are already planning further expansion into the southeastern region of Liberia.”

The clinic’s opening has sparked hope among residents, who say it brings not only better access to care but also the potential to improve the overall quality of health services in the area.

Abraham Zondo, a community leader from Peachuzohn, praised the initiative. “This is a welcome development. The new clinic will ease the pressure on existing health centers and introduce a level of healthy competition that could uplift treatment standards across the board,” he said. “I encourage everyone with eye conditions to make use of this opportunity for better vision and better health.”

With its mission centered on making quality eye care more accessible and affordable, Sight First is poised to become a vital pillar in Grand Bassa’s healthcare infrastructure. As expansion plans move forward, more communities across southeastern Liberia may soon benefit from the same life-changing services.
