Rep. Madison Gwion Is Dead -As Angry Supporters In Disarray In Zwedru

District 1 Representative in Grand Gedeh County, E. Madison Gwion died in India, where he had gone to seek medical care, family sources confirmed.
Representative Gwion, who got re-elected during the country’s just ended October 10, 2023 Presidential and Legislative elections, died on Monday, December 4, 2023, but the cause of death is yet to be established.
It can be recalled that the deceased Grand Gedeh County Representative succeeded Senator, then Representative, Zoe E. Pennoh in 2020, after he won as Senator of Grand Gedeh.
Rep. Gwion, who was said to still be enjoying the confidence of the citizens of the county, evidenced by his reelection, was scheduled along with 73 Lawmakers to be certificated on Friday, December 8, 2023.
Meanwhile, hours after his death, several angry supporters of the late Rep. Madison Gwion set ablaze the home of Senator Zoe Emmanuel Pennoh, leaving a terrifying atmosphere in the county.
According to information, the angry youths, armed with machetes, also set up roadblocks in Zwedru, the capital city of Grand Gedeh County, a local radio station reported.
Some eyewitnesses narrated that they also heard gunshots, coupled with smoke rising from another house, believed to be owned by the traditional council of the county.
Accordingly, they are accusing Senator Pennoh of being responsible for the death of the Coalition of Democratic Change (CDC) lawmaker, as a result of to their long-standing rivalry, an allegation the Senator has since denied.
Information has it that the family members of the Senator were forced to hide inside homes or wherever they could find shelter from the violence on Monday.
