Rep. Koon Wants Gov’t Impose Curfew

The Representative of District #11 in Montserrado County, Richard Nagbe Koon, is admonishing his colleagues in the House of Representatives to prevail on the Executive to announce a night-time curfew in order to curtail the movement of people during this prevailing health emergency.
In his communication to the plenary recently, the Montserrado County District #11 lawmaker said, imposing curfew at this time could serve as a good measure for restricting the movement of people within and out of Montserrado and Margibi Counties which are affected by the current coronavirus.
He further stated that a two-week curfew could aid the prevention of additional confirmed cases of the virus and also introduce tougher measures to avert the current situation from escalating further.
“Hon. Speaker, distinguished colleagues; Western countries that are being overwhelmed by the outbreak today earlier reneged on putting in the necessary measures to prevent the spread of the virus,” he reminded his colleagues.
“As direct representative of the people, it is not proper to see the country reach a state of devastation before taking additional steps to protect the generation,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Rep. Koon said as a way of going about the restrictions, citizens will be given time to get their essential needs before the curfew takes effect which he suggested should run from 9 P.M. to 6 P.M. which according to him will avoid people leaving or perambulating after the stipulated time.
