By Solomon T. Gaye

Representative Gonpue Kargon of Electoral District 4 in Nimba, has Debunked Senator Prince Y. Johnson’s recent attack incident in the town of Wehyeplay in Nimba County.

Speaking to Radio Kergheamahn, Kargon denied reports that his supporters attacked Senator Johnson’s vehicles in his district.

“I was absent during the visit of Senator Johnson and Senator Koung in my home town in Wehyeplay. It was Senator Johnson’s political statement alleging that I, Representative Kargon, received a huge amount of cash from President Weah to recruit youths into the gay society, coupled with threats that I will die, that provoked many of the residents to walk out of the hall, but nobody stoned Senator Johnson or attacked his convoy,” said Kargon.

Speaking to Radio Kergheamahn in Ganta over the weekend, Senator Johnson accused Gonpue Kargon’s and CDC supporters of attacking his vehicles, while touring some of the electoral districts in Nimba County.

Said tour in Nimba by Johnson and Koung had sparked serious violence between supporters of CDC and those of UP, leaving one person dead.

Since the pronouncement of Senator Koung as running mate for Unity Party by UP political leader, Joseph Boakai, tension has arisen in Nimba, with strained relationships getting even more strenuous.

When this paper contacted the Nimba Police detachment in Sanniquellie, Police disclosed that the reports of the investigation into the incident are still pending.

They however asserted that the incident that left one person dead was not political or campaign related, according to their findings.
