A civil society group under the banner, “Progressive Liberian Network for Development” (PLND), is calling for the immediate publication of the declared assets of Montserrado County Electoral District 12 Representative, Jerry K. Yogboh.
The group, through its Executive Director, Melvin Sloh Doweh, said it is the utmost important and honorable thing for the district lawmaker to have his assets that he declared to the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission published in the local dailies across the country that are frequently read and followed.
Doweh said, as a proponent of good governance, public officials, especially at the National Legislature, are to have the constituents of their respective districts informed on their assets before ascending and exiting to public offices, for the sake of transparency and accountability.
He stressed that his organization wants Representative Jerry Yogboh to make public his assets in frequently read newspapers and online social media platforms as a means for the district to authenticate the truthfulness about his much-talked-about wealth from Dell Company in the United States of America, where he reportedly worked as a consultant.
“Yogboh vowed to be honest and people-centered in his deeds, words, and working in the Legislature, and as such, the need to authenticate his declared assets would prove him right as a nationalist and patriot against speculations in the district that he is a business-as-usual legislator, considering that truthfulness in political leadership is required” Doweh said.
He averred, “The institution’s quest to the legislator to publish his assets is based on deliberate delay by Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) to publish declared assets of public officials that have complied with the constitutional mandate, Code of Conduct of Public Officials.”
PLND is an assembly of peaceful Liberians upholding global solidarity and supporting national sectors development through impactful programs, policies, strategies, and projects.
