OXFAM Liberia Donates Over US$7,000 Assorted Materials To NPHIL

Oxfam in Liberia yesterday donated some assorted materials in the tune of US$7,652.5 to the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) to help in the preparedness against the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus in the country.
The assorted items donated by Oxfam includes; US$775 20-litter bucket with tap and lid worth 2,712.5 and 260 citron soap worth US$4,940 totaling US$7,652.5.
Making the donation at the NPHIL office in Congo Town, Oxfam Influencing Coordinator, Aruna Augustine Kamara said that Oxfam’s decision to give the items was triggered by the government’s recent campaign launched in order to prevent the outbreak of the Coronavirus in the country.
He added that the items were timely donated to enable the government prepare to prevent this menacing virus from the country, adding, that the washing of hands is believed to be the major force in the fight against any deadly decease like the Coronavirus.
Receiving the items, the NPHIL acting Director General, Dr. Mosoka Fallah lauded Oxfam for the gesture and said it is the best way in preventing the deadly Coronavirus outbreak in the country.
He alluded that since the launch of the preparedness against the virus, Oxfam Liberia is said to be the first to lead the process against the virus, while at the same time promised to ensure that the items be used for its eternal purposes in order to save lives.
Also in gratitude, the CEO of the WASH commission, Bobby Whitfield expressed his satisfaction with Oxfam Liberia for the gesture, adding that the gesture will support the ‘Clean Hands Preventing the Virus Campaign’ that was launched on January 29, 2020.
Mr. Whitfield then used the occasion to urged the citizenry to enforce the Clean Hands Preventing the Virus by placing sanitation buckets at their homes, market places, schools, churches, mosques and various offices among others and also pledged WASH Commission’s fullest support in ensuring that the items be used appropriately.

They are working in more than 90 countries with thousands of partners, allies and communities to save and protect lives.
Oxfam has been working in Liberia since 1995, as their strategy has evolved according to the context from responding to emergencies to long-term development, as well as the provision of access to safe drinking water and improved sanitation facilities in health units, schools and communities, particularly in rural areas.
