The Criminal Court ‘C’ has summoned Writ of Criminal Contempt on the Managing Director of National Transit Authority (NTA) Herbie T. McCauley for disrespecting the court’s mandates.
According to the Writ of Summon issued yesterday, “You are hereby commanded to summon Herbic T. McCauley to appear before the first Judicial Circuit Court on January 19, to show cause why he should not be held in contempt,” the court ordered.
The Writ maintained that defendant McCauley was cited by the court on January 10, to appear for a conference on January 16, but he refused and neglected to honor the citation, thereby subjecting the court to public ridicule.
It can be recalled that the court cited the Managing Director of the National Transit Authority Herbie Mccauley, to answer to questions in connection to his alleged refusal to pay the back pay of a redundant employee of the institution.
The Circuit Court Judge’s actions followed a complaint filed by an employee identified as Joyce Farngalo, former conductor at the NTA that the institution redundant her without any justifiable reason for her dismissal.
Miss, Farngalo, further revealed in her complaint that the National Transit Authority through its Director and Human Resource Manager Mark Magbollah has refused and neglected to settle her severance benefit, notice payment and arrears in the sum of over Two Hundred thousand Liberian Dollars.
The NTA redundancy letter which was signed by the HR and approved by the Managing Director says the management has redundant Miss Joyce Farngloe , due to financial and economic constrains faced by the institution.
The National Transit Authority (NTA) was established in the City of Monrovia, by the Government of Liberia through legislative enactment on September 11, 2008 and approved into law by Her Excellency President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf on March 24, 2009.
The NTA was founded with the objective of generating revenue for national government and with the responsibility of providing transport for commuters.
