The National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) has activated and strengthened surveillance efforts across the country in response to a suspected case and related death from Viral hemorrhagic fever in neighboring Sierra Leone.
This includes enhancing port health and epidemiological monitoring at key border crossing points, particularly in the northwest.
The Director-General of NPHIL, Dougbeh Chris Nyan, has engaged in discussions with the Executive Director of the National Public Health Agency (NPHA) of Sierra Leone, Foday Sahr, to ensure a coordinated response and collaborative approach aimed at preventing any potential outbreak in the region.
The public is urged to remain calm and adhere to basic infection control measures, including frequent hand washing with soap and water, avoiding direct contact with individuals who exhibit symptoms of illness, and reporting any suspected cases to the nearest health facility for prompt action.
