Nimba County Announces Cooper Sannah As Head Coach

After series of rumors concerning who takes Nimba County football team to the upcoming 2024 National County Sports Meet, the Nimba County Sports Steering Committee has finally announced Watanga FC Manager, Cooper Sannah, as the head coach of the county’s squad ending speculations among many stakeholders.
In recent time, particularly during the coach evaluation process for the county’s team, many fans and citizens of the county rumored that there was transfer arrangement at the level of the steering committee to have River Gee County 2023/2024 head coach Daniel Sesay over to Nimba County.
Last Sunday, October 6, 2024, Nimba Sports Steering Committee headed by its chairperson Diamond Yormie, expressed the interest in Coach Cooper Sannah as the new manager for the vacant job, announcing him as their choice to guide their boys’ team to the competition.
The former Bong County head coach and long-time Technical Director Cooper Sannah’s announcement by the Nimba Sports Steering Committee sealed the deal and is expected to introduce his long football experience to a team that is the highest carrier of the nation’s traditional festival.
During the ceremony, chairman Diamond Yormie disclosed the county’s trust in the reigning champions head coach to assist them in order to get back the county’s meet trophy. According to him the decision was taken in the best interest of the county from power given them from the local authority.
For his part, Coach Sannah explained his appreciation to the county sports steering committee for selecting him among many coaches to take charge of the team. According to him, Nimba is a county that many coaches are always desirous to work with in terms of football development.
Taking over the new task, he said, his record from the past 22 years as a coach will speak to the work as he is hopeful of delivering to Nimba County team in the upcoming National County Sports Meet.
“I come to this job with a huge experience and there are lots of dividends that the county stands to benefit when it comes to coaching. By selecting me among many coaches in Liberia, Nimba was nowhere in error in the decision and it is not one that will bring shame to the steering committee”, he said.
He then vowed to have others, including quality players getting on board to take the county team to a point of running the frontlines of the tournament, adding, “We are not here to be back benchers of the County meet.”
Nimba County will travel to Grand Cape Mount County for this year’s edition of the competition as Grand Cape Mount County will host Group D which comprised of host Grand Cape Mount, Nimba and River Gee Counties.
