NEC Theft Case Heats Up In Sanniquellie —Police Hook Warehouse Manager

The Criminal Investigation Department of the Liberia National Police (LNP) is conducting investigation into the alleged theft at the National Elections Commission (NEC) sub office in Sanniquellie City, Nimba County.According to reports; huge quantity of elections materials went missing from a warehouse at (NEC’s) Sub office in Sanniquellie thereby creating fear among NEC workers working with upper National Elections Commission assigned at the Central Office in Sanniquellie City.
Speaking to Police; it was confirmed that the upper NEC warehouse manager, Augustine Dahn is under probe in lieu of the incident. It is also revealed that Dahn admitted to the selling of some of the materials to some business people in Ganta. Quite a good quantity of elections materials has thus far been retrieved while investigation is still ongoing.
The CID Officer added that, many of the items were retrieved from some electronic dealers in Ganta among which were some Chinese torch lights and other assorted items.
For the past month in Nimba, rumors had been circulating from upper NEC sub office that over 200 pieces of lights, assorted materials and valuable items went missing from the warehouse and the case was reported to the police in Sanniquellie for investigation.
When contacted, upper NEC Boss Princeston Monbiah confirmed the incident and that the case is before NEC central office in monrovia for hearing but remained tightlipped to name the different kinds of materials stolen. Upper NEC sub office is headed by Princeston Monbiah, as election magistrate in Sanniquellie City, Nimba County.
Speaking further , CID Oscar T. Sayeh, said suspect Agustine Dahn, admitted selling some of the materials to settle some problems and has been charged with theft, misapplication of entrusted property but remained silent whether the suspect was sent to court or not, for prosecution.
This is the second theft to hit institutions in Sanniquellie City, in less than three months in the county. Recently unknown persons burglarized the Sanniquellie Central High School and made away with several sporting materials and other valuable things from the school’s warehouse.
