By Bill W. Cooper
The Ministry of Post and Telecommunications (MOPT) Minister, Cllr. Cooper Kruah recently received one of the highest service honors by the Society for the Promotion of Peace, National Reconciliation and Reunification (SPPNRR) as one of the “Best Minister” of the year 2019 in the CDC led government for his outstanding performance since his inception at the Ministry.
Presenting the award at the office of the Minster in Monrovia, the SPPNRR CEO, J. Mayfield Copson said that the award was their own way of recognizing the frantic efforts made by the MOPT Minister during the period under review in order to bring some level of transformation and restore international partners’ confidence to the ministry.
Copson recounted that during the period under review, the MOPT Minister had effectively performed in accordance with the government’s Pro-poor Agenda for Development and Prosperity (PAPD) – stating that said effort made by the minister is something that is laudable and encouraging for the country.
He added that the award ceremony is something that is very historic, indicating that for the work the minister has done- they need adequate support from national government for the growth and improvement of the ministry.
“We as Civil Society organization will engage the government for more budgetary allotment for the aspirations and plans that will move the MOPT forward to become a reality. The minister had made very big steeps to transform the ministry in less than two years,” CEO Copson concluded.
Receiving the award, the MOPT Minister, Cllr. Cooper Kruah lauded the leadership of the SPPNRR for the recognition, stressing that no minister will be successful without the working or achievement of the President of the country that entrusted him or her with the opportunity to serve his/her country.
Cllr. Cooper said that most of the programs implemented by him and his deputies along with office staffs were through the collaborative efforts of them at the ministry to ensure that the government’s Pro-poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD) is realized.
He further urged citizens to bear with the President in order to do the work they elected him to do, stressing, “We hope that all Liberians will understand especially with all of the distractions we have in the country. Some people want to demonstrate and cause confusion in the country which we believe is not in the best interest of our country, as the government has 6 years mandate from the people.”
