LOFA Community College Students Reject Newly Appointed VPA

Students at the Lofa County Community College (LCCC) have sharply rejected the newly appointed Vice president for Administration (VPA) of the college, Danwolo Catakai, who is the replacement of dismissed Samuel Dunbar.
The students are demanding the immediate reinstatement of Mr. Dunbar as Vice president for Administration or else no academic activities will be carried out on the campus.
According to the spokesperson of the aggrieved students, James W. Sumo, the process that led to the replacement of Mr. Dunbar was unconstitutional and should not be condoned by residents of the county as well as students of the college.
Mr. Danwolo was officially inducted into office on Friday, October 4, amidst heavy students’ protesters who were calling for a halt to the process, but the ceremony was forcibly carried out by the Board under the supervision of the former Lofa County Senator, Sumo Kupee.
Student Sumo informed the media that the Board under the chairmanship of Mr. Kupee admitted dismissing Mr. Dunbar even though that decision was unconstitutional.

“We are disappointed over the action of the Board to contradict itself, initially, the president of the Board had distant himself from the dismissal of Mr. Dunbar, but we are surprised that he will summersault in a twinkling of an eye to claim responsibility for the dismissal,” he stated.
Meanwhile, some residents who spoke to journalists from Lofa expressed frustration over the dismissal of Mr. Dunbar and is calling on the President, George Weah to act by reinstating the VPA.
According to them, Mr. Dunbar had done no wrong to be dismissed and as of such it was important for the President to act immediately to save the image of the College.
