The Liberia National Police (LNP), through its Bassa Detachment, has arrested and charged a group of individuals alleged to be involved in a string of violent criminal activities in Buchanan. The suspects were arraigned before the Buchanan Magisterial Court early this week.
Those arrested include Prince Wilson, also known by the alias “ERU,” along with Adam Verdier, Augustine Jibba, Curis Thompson, Cyrus Russ, and Sampson Bull.
According to police reports, the men face a range of serious charges including armed robbery, robbery, theft of property, criminal facilitation, and criminal conspiracy.
The charges stem from a violent incident that reportedly occurred on April 13, 2025.
A formal complaint, filed under oath by private prosecutors identified as TRIX, alleges that the defendants acting in a coordinated gang armed themselves with cutlasses, sticks, and other sharp objects, and attempted to inflict fatal harm on the complainants.
The Police Charge Sheet further alleges that during the confrontation, the defendants forcefully took possession of seven mobile phones valued at approximately US$2,000 and L$300,000.
Authorities say the suspects converted the stolen property to their own use, with the intention of permanently depriving the owners.
Police noted that the actions of the suspects violate several provisions of Liberia’s New Penal Law, specifically Sections 15.32 (armed robbery), 15.30 (robbery), 15.51 (theft of property), 10.2 (criminal facilitation), and 10.4 (criminal conspiracy).
Following their appearance in court, the accused were remanded to the Upper Buchanan Central Prison, where they are being held in pretrial detention as they await further legal proceedings.
The Liberia National Police reaffirmed its commitment to upholding law and order, and warned that individuals engaged in criminal activity will face the full weight of the law.
