The Liberia Marketing Association (LMA) branch in Nimba County has suspended its Superintendent, Tannie Youhn, in Ganta City.

The suspension of Youhn, whose office is situated in the General Market, takes immediate effect.

The LMA disclosed that Superintendent Youhn was suspended based on a complaint against her on misapplication of over L$600,000 believed to be public funds.

According to LMA in Ganta, the suspended Superintendent was accused of diverting the amount in question, which was intended for the market developments, to her personal use.

“Superintendent Youhn is hereby suspended until the funds misapplied are refunded,” the LMA Ganta branch revealed, appointing Saye Boe as the acting Superintendent for Ganta General Market.

“Tannie Youhn was suspended by LMA superintendent in Sanniquellie after the preliminary hearing into the case by some staff.

Reports of alleged corruption, misapplication of public funds, and other related issues, continue to be the order of the day and a common practice in the county.

In 2022, some aggrieved marketers of Ganta General Market accused Superintendent Youhn of increasing registration fee of a table from L$3,000 to L$3,500.

The action led to the aggrieved marketers reopening a five-for-five market in the Gbatu Quarter outside Ganta.

When suspended Superintendent Youhn was contacted, her daughter informed this paper that she had gone to a church service, but the Ganta LMA’s acting Superintendent, Saye Boe, confirmed the suspension of Youhn and referred the paper to its central office in Sanniquellie; and though the LMA Superintendent, Winifred Wamah, also confirmed the suspension, she refused to give details.
