The Solicitor at the City Court in Sanniquellie, Roland Dolo, says seven of the accused that attacked the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) officers have been sent to the central prison in Sanniquellie awaiting court trial.
Prosecutor Dolo explained that the accused were arrested by police for an alleged attacked on LDEA officers in the county.
According to Dolo, some residents of Lougbeyee Town took the law into their hands and willfully flogged, wounded, assaulted and sexually assaulted one of the female officer.
“The security went to rescue a men who was accused of rape and got attacked through mob justice,” Dolo confirmed.
“The seven accused were charged with Aggregated Assault, Criminal Conspiracy, Theft of Property, Sexual Assault and Rioting pending the court’s trial,” Solicitor Dolo narrated.
“The case is above the jurisdiction of this court therefore, the accused are to remain behind bar until the 8th Judicial Circuit Court opens for its November term,” Dolo maintained.
The Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency officers were reportedly attacked by residents of Lougbeyee Town recently leaving one officer wounded and several others flogged unmercifully with their motorbikes and other personal belongings seized.
When this paper contacted the police, the CSD revealed that the seven suspects have been charged and sent to court for prosecution revealing, “We are still in search of the other accused that are on the run in the town.”
