Heaven XI Knocked Off Top Spot In 1ST Division

The Heavenly Messengers from Heaven Eleven Football Club’s celebrations and enjoyment of the top spot at the Liberia Football Association National First Division League were halted, after their match day seven fixture against Mighty Barrolle Football Club.

Barrolle strolled to a 6-3 victory against Heaven Eleven, which was enough to knock them off their perch at the top the league, which the club had enjoyed from the beginning stage of the competition to round seven. That spot is now being occupied by the Liberia International Shipping and Cooperate Registry (LISCR) Football Club.

On Sunday, October 22, 2023, the Dorris Williams Sports pitch in Buchanan City hosted the match with the highest goals of the week, when one of Liberia’s oldest football clubs mugged the then national league leaders in a 9-goal thriller.

The win for the ‘Rollers’ was their fourth win of the season. The Bassa-based club has played seven matches, drawing two and losing one. They are now seated second to LISCR at the top of the table, with 13 points. The defending Champions harbor hopes of retaining the title, as they head to round eight in the first place.

LISCR, from seven games, have won five of their fixtures, lost one, and drawn one, amassing 16 points, the highest any team has gotten so far in the current league season. The Shippers, the Rollers, and the Messengers, in the first, second and third spots respectively, make the next round of the fixtures in the competition ominous, as we wait to see who enjoy the leading spots for the next round.

Meanwhile, Majestic Sports Association, with the Sunshine Yellow boys of Invincible Eleven (IE), are heading to round eight of the LFA national first division league 2023/2024 season, still in search for their second win. Coach Kelvin Singbe and his boys, in seven matches, have managed to secure just a single win and three draws, with a total of six points.

IE are third from the bottom of the league table, over Cece United, who have three points, and the newly promoted National Port Authority (NPA) Anchors, who are yet to win a single match since their introduction to the top flight.

Cece have won one out of their first seven games, while the Anchors were able to collect two draws, as the least team at the current stage of the season.

The top flight will get into action this weekend with the following fixtures:

On Saturday October 28, 2023, the Gardnersville center stage, Tusa Field, will host the Liberia Petroleum Refinery Company (LPRC) Oilers, playing at home against Bea Mountain, while Heaven Eleven will seek vengeance from their last defeat in a fixture against NPA Anchors the same day, at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex Practice Pitch.

The following Sunday, Nimba kwado will welcome Mighty Barrolle at the Tomah Saye Floyd Stadium in Nimba County. FC Kallon- Liberia will faceoff with Watanga at the SKD Practice Pitch. The Antoinette Tubman Stadium will host two matches. IE will hope to get their second win against Paynesville FC in game one, while Cece United will also embark on the same quest against LISCR in game two, at the Examination Hall of Liberian Football.

Freeport FC and Global Pharma will make their contribution to match day nine of the national league against each other, as the only match of the day at the Tusa field that Sunday, October 29, 2023.
