H-Tech University Launches E-learning Platform

The Hope Technology University (HTU) has launched a new e-learning platform to enhance the quality of education for students in Liberia.
Making remarks over the weekend at the launching ceremony in Congo Town, the president Giahseymehn Barseegiah said, the platform aims to deliver quality education to students, allowing them to learn from home using their phones, laptops, and other devices.
According to him, efforts are being made to widen digital access in quality education, to bridge the gap in the education sector and enable professionals to earn extra while contributing to the society.
“Over 15% of the Liberian population are actively using the internet, and Hope-Tech is an online university composed of various colleges, which offer courses in different fields,” he said.
“There are challenges in purchasing data, smartphones, laptops, and other gadgets, these obstacles won’t hinder the learning process. Over time, the number of internet users will increase, as the world continues to go digital,” he lamented.
“It is not only about the courses the university offer, but also people who are abroad and have interest in the university can enroll, as H-Tech will also be offering lessons on local dialects of the country,” he added.
He stated, “With this platform, we want to bridge the gap where you can also study courses from your location, where you do not have to come to Monrovia to acquire that education you desire.”
He further urged the youth to take advantage of the platform which has a lot of learning opportunities, adding that, though the beginning is tough, their dream is to make this platform escalate across the country and globally.
He added that, the platform is open to entrepreneurship, and professors who want to lecture on a specific skill to the public can sign up as an instructor, because some of their instructors are basing in Nigeria and other parts of the African region.
He concluded, we will be working with high schools, technical vocational education institutions, and universities, as well as NGOs who are involved with human development other corporate entities, and governmental institutions to solve major issues in educating our future leaders.
