For Misuse Of Firearm In ELWA Community: Officer Trawally Disrobed For Prosecution

The Liberia National Police (LNP) has charged Officer Ishmael Trawally for carelessly discharging his weapon that consequently led to the death of the 15-year-old boy in the ELWA Community.
Wrapping up its investigation in connection with the incident on that fateful day, Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman in a press briefing conducted on Thursday, July 11, 2024, communicated the outcome of the investigation to the public as misuse of firearm.
He said the LNP endorses the recommendations from its Professional Standards Division to disrobe Officer Trawally and hand him over to the Criminal Investigation Division to proceed legally.
Inspector General Colman said Officer Trawally misused his firearm, contributing to the unfortunate event on July 1, 2024 indicating that, the decision to pursue prosecution highlights the seriousness of the police on such egregious breach of protocol within its ranks.
Meanwhile, Trawally has been charged with Negligence homicide and forwarded to court for further prosecution.
