Fassell Football Club, soon to be reintroduced to the National First Division League to rename Muscat or Kallon Football club has unveiled Coach Ivan Minneart, a Belgian national, to manage the team in the upcoming league season.
Tuesday June 11, 2024 witnessed the start of a new day for the Club and Coach Ivan Minneart who is in country on a three-year deal with a mandate to win trophies and maintain strong participation in the coming league season and as well develop local players for football development in Liberia.
Unveiling the Belgian international, Fassell FC’s President Cassell Kouh who informed the news conference in Monrovia that the coach has signed a contract that will last up to 2027.
According to him, it is from this perspective that Liberian football will grow and so, the mindset for the game has to change in order to have some basic checkpoints erected for the expected result along the way.
Kouh explained that the motivation of hiring a foreign coach for his club came from the background of what the club witnessed some years ago when they participated in the interclub competition of the Confederation of African Football.
He said, though the coaches in Liberia have the necessary mentality that can get result for any topflight club, Fassell intends to open the space for other nationals to participate in local sports development as tacticians like the case of the Liberian men’s senior national team.
The former football association vice president for operation disclosed that the process for recruiting it new coach was open to have many people in its screaming process looking for the best candidate with cognizance of the situation of football in Africa, and idea that made the best considered applicant.
Though he failed to mention the monetary value of the deal, he intimated that the presence of the new manager in Liberia will mean well for the team and players during the league.
On his Unveiling, Ivan Minneart made a promised have FC Fassell outstanding during his stay with a difference in performance in the Liberian league. He affirmed that it is possible for all coaches to have a playing that is synonymous but his style differs with the bit of salt and pepper in his tactics.
