Edward Ledlum Sends Paynesville Into LFA Orange Cup Next Round

Liberia’s best footballer, Edward Ledlum, scored the fastest goal in round one of the 2023/2024 Orange Cup to take Paynesville Football Club to round two of the competition.

Ledlum scored under a minute in their Sunday’ knockout fixture against entertaining Gardnersville Football Club, at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex Practice Pitch in Paynesville city, to see his side through.

Gardnersville pilled the pressure on their first division opponents, but some sublime goal keeping from Paynesville shot-stopper, Emmanuel Deanniah, proved decisive.

Gardnersville controlled much of the first half but just could not get past Deanah.

There was fine goalkeeping from the Gardnersville FC keeper as well, denying Mark Paye and others on several attempts.

Fans from both sides were entertained, but Paynesville FC supporters were the happiest going home.

Both teams were making their second appearance in the Liberia Football Association Orange Cup.

Sunday’s result means Gardnersville FC will now switch all of their attention towards gaining promotion to the First Division, from the Second division, where they are currently second on the table.

Paynesville will also have to double up their efforts going into the second round of the Orange Cup, as they are expected to meet one of their major neighboring rivals, Heaven Eleven Football Club, in February of next year.
