Drug Trafficker Arrested At South Beach

The Monrovia City Court at the Temple of Justice sent to jail a female arrested with kush at the Monrovia Central Prison.
Mariama Kanteh, 34, was arrested with five plastic bags of mixed drug substances when she went to visit an inmate she identified as her brother at the prison facility.
Defendant Kanteh was arrested by Correction Officer Ruth Johnson at the Monrovia Central Prison (South Beach) on July 24, 2024, in possession of five medicine plastics of mixed cannabis and fentanyl commonly known as Kush along with one tube of cocaine.
Following police investigation, defendant Kanteh was changed with the commission of the crime of “UNLICENSED POSSESSION OF CONTROL DRUGS OR SUBSTANCE” which is in violation of Chapter 14, section 14.89 of the New Drugs Law.
The street value of the substances is put at LS17,500 and the one tube of cocaine is estimated at L$50,000.
She was informed of her miranda rights which she waived and her statement was taken voluntarily.
Upon receipt of the defendant, an investigation was conducted by the police at which time she admitted.
According to the police charge sheet, the defendant narrated that on July 24, 2024 at about 1:40 pm while on her way to visit her brother Mohammed Kanteh a convict at the Monrovia Central Prison, she received a call from one Titus to be identified, also a convict at the Monrovia Central Prison, who told her to go on UN Drive and pick-up something for him.
She said she collected a black plastic bag from a bike rider which she did not open before entering the compound of the Central Prison.
Based on that, she was arrested and turned over to the Anti-Narcotics Unit of the Liberia National for investigation.
During the investigative findings, the defendant denied being the owner of the plastic bag given to her by the unidentified bike rider which contained the five medical plastics of substances which was examined and established to be the mixture of cannabis and fentanvl commonly known as kush but admitted that the black plastic bag containing the narcotics substances was in her possession when she entered the prison compound.
