BOSTA Hosts Annual W’shop

The Borough School Teacher Association (BOSTA) successfully conducted its annual teacher workshop over the weekend, gathering more than 700 educators from the association.
The two-day event aimed to prepare teachers for the upcoming academic year, equipping them with new strategies and insights.
The Secretary of BOSTA, Nyankun Togba emphasized the workshop’s importance as a preparatory event before the commencement of each school year.
He explained that the initiative, envisioned by BOSTA’s president and current New Kru Town Governor Robert Teah, seeks to re-energize teachers and help them effectively utilize resources effectively in their classrooms.
“The workshop allows our teachers to refresh their knowledge and bring new ideas into their teaching practices,” said Togba.
He also highlighted the challenge of limited support from external organizations and government entities, though he expressed appreciation for Governor Teah’s ongoing commitment to support the association.
Togba urged teachers to value the workshop as an essential component of their professional development, noting that continuous learning is crucial in education.
He also called on humanitarian and government supporters to aid BOSTA, with Governor Teah serving as a contact for potential contributions.
Participants expressed enthusiasm about the workshop. John Tee, a teacher with fifteen years of experience, praised the event for providing new, useful insights.
He suggested that future workshops be held twice a year to further benefit educators.
Julie Rocksonkun, another participant, found the workshop both educational and flexible, helping teachers better relate to students from diverse backgrounds. She recommended that colleagues seize similar opportunities in the future.
The workshop featured a variety of topics, including “The Way Forward to Maintain the Fragile Peace,” “The Importance of Education and Its Impact on Economic Growth and Development,” and “The Importance of Religious Tolerance in a Secular State,” among others.
Overall, the workshop was seen as a valuable experience, providing teachers with the tools and motivation needed to enhance their educational practices and better support their students.
