President Joseph Boakai has officially commissioned the newly renovated Rehab Broad Street Market, reflecting a significant milestone in Liberia’s journey toward economic revitalization and improved public infrastructure .
The long-awaited upgrade of the popular marketplace was formally handed over to the Liberia Marketing Association (LMA) for ongoing maintenance and management—ensuring sustained quality service and order for both marketers and customers.
Addressing attendees during the commissioning ceremony, the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the LMA, Lusu Crawford, lauded the government’s efforts in transforming the once-dilapidated space into a modern, hygienic, and business-friendly facility.
“We commend the Boakai-led administration for prioritizing the needs of our marketers. This transformation speaks volumes about the government’s commitment to empowering small businesses and uplifting communities,” Madam Crawford said.
The upgraded market now features a more conducive environment for daily commerce, including better sanitation, structured stalls, improved drainage, and safer conditions for buyers and sellers alike.
President Boakai, in his brief remarks, emphasized the government’s continued support for grassroots economic development, describing the renovation as “a symbol of our promise to build from the bottom up.”
The handover marks the beginning of a new era for market goers and traders at Rehab Broad Street, with expectations high for improved economic activity and better public services.
