Bishop Donyen Empowers More Marketers

The Bishop of the Independent Catholic Church of Liberia (ICCL), Nimely Jarbokly Donyen, continues the empowerment of marketers in the Township of Johnsonville including other communities.
Recently, several markets were beneficiaries of L$3,626,000 micro loan that was initiated by Bishop Donyen in 2021 aimed at addressing difficulties that marketers are faced with securing loans to enhance their businesses.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony in the Red Hill Community, District 2 Montserrado County, Bishop Donyen disclosed that the loan is in two categories as marketers listed to receive cash while other loans are rescheduled indicating that delinquent marketers’ obligation is in the tune of L$1,987,900.
According to him, the total amount of cash loaned is L$1,639,000 and that Nimba United Community Market was receiving the highest amount because it was their first time benefiting, noting that it was a new market building that was constructed by him with support from the Compassion for Life, USA.
The beneficiaries of the latest loan were, Nimba United Community Market L$660,000, Central Johnsonville Market L$550,000 and Palm Bush Market L$429,000.
He named markets that are delinquent as the Dorrobo & Gbankan Marketers Associations-L$306,130; Peace City Market-L$422,680; Pepper Wlue Town Market-L$118,535; Mount Barclay Market-L$125,115 and Kpanwein Community Market-L$91,495, among others.
Bishop Donyen clearly stated that the money is a loan at 10% interest rate and he encouraged the beneficiaries to make maximum use of the opportunity by using the money for the intended purpose so as to improve their businesses.
“If you pay the money in time, after every three months the total cash will be increased by US$3, 000,” he told them.
Bishop Donyen then paid homage to the Compassion for Life, the American Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) for always providing funding that has enabled him carry out many projects in the district.
Responding to the gesture, the secretary general of the Central Johnsonville Market, Tamba Daniels expressed gratitude to Bishop Donyen and the Compassion for Life.
The Superintendent of the Nimba United Community Market, Kebbeh Harris extolled Bishop Donyen and his partners for building their market and also empowering them which she described as marvelous initiatives.
“The people are gradually changing our lives. They built our big market structure and they are again giving us loans at 10% percent interest rate so they have demonstrated to be a true humanitarian organization,” Madam Harris lauded.
