Grand Bassa County Superintendent Karyou Johnson along with a delegation of local officials, recently toured the construction site of the highly anticipated Liberia Government Hospital.
The estimated $3.5 million project, located in the Own Your Own Community, represents a major step forward in the county’s efforts to improve healthcare access for its residents.
Superintendent Johnson expressed optimism about the hospital’s impact, emphasizing its role in addressing critical healthcare needs in the region. “This hospital is a vital addition to our county and will serve as a beacon of hope for many,” he said. “It will significantly enhance medical services and ensure that residents receive quality healthcare closer to home.”
The new hospital is part of a broader national initiative to expand and modernize medical infrastructure across Liberia. Once completed, it is expected to provide essential healthcare services, including maternal care, emergency treatment, and specialized medical interventions.
Residents and local leaders have welcomed the project, viewing it as a long-overdue investment in Grand Bassa’s healthcare system.
Many have struggled with limited medical facilities, often traveling long distances to access adequate care.
The hospital’s completion will alleviate some of these challenges and strengthen the overall health sector in the county.
Construction is progressing, with officials projecting that the facility will be fully operational in the coming months.
Local authorities and health professionals are already working on staffing plans and logistical preparations to ensure a smooth launch.
As Grand Bassa moves closer to having a modern medical facility, Superintendent Johnson has reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for further development in the county.
“This is just the beginning,” he said. “We will continue to push for more investments in healthcare, education, and infrastructure to improve the lives of our people.”
