The Grand Bassa County Administration has officially launched a major community road rehabilitation project in Buchanan.
The initiative, funded by the County’s Social Development Funds, marks a critical step toward modernizing infrastructure in the region.
The project further seeks to enhance transportation and daily life in Buchanan City,
Work began this week on several key roads throughout the city, with teams mobilized to repair and upgrade vital thoroughfares that have long suffered from neglect and deterioration. The project is under the direct supervision of the County Development Officer, Moses Henry, who has played a pivotal role in driving the initiative from conception to execution.
“Our aim is to improve accessibility and ease the movement of people and goods within Buchanan,” Henry said. “This project will not only reduce travel time and vehicle damage but also lay the foundation for future development efforts, especially as we approach the rainy season.”
Local residents and business owners have welcomed the project with enthusiasm, viewing it as a long-awaited improvement that could revitalize neighborhoods and boost economic activity.
Many have expressed hope that the new roads will reduce congestion, make commuting safer, and improve access to services and markets.
“This is something we’ve needed for years,” said Mary Johnson, a local shopkeeper in the Fairgrounds Community. “Bad roads have made it hard to bring in supplies and customers. Seeing the county take action like this is encouraging.”
The County Administration has expressed optimism that the success of the Buchanan Road rehabilitation will set a precedent for broader infrastructural investments across Grand Bassa County.
Officials are already exploring additional projects aimed at bolstering public services and community resilience in anticipation of the rainy season.
