Alleged QNET Agent Jailed For Human Trafficking

A 30 years old man identified as Abu Kamara has been jailed for allegedly trafficking three persons in the Topoe Village, Barnesville Community.Defendant Kamara who has been subsequently charged with the crimes of Human Trafficking under Subchapter 15.70 of the Penal Code was duly informed of his constitutional rights.
According to the police investigation, between January to February, the 15 victims who are nationals of Guinea, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast and Mali were brought into Liberia by defendant Kamara accompany by Yusuf Konneh, Keifala Kamara and Ousman Kamara, who are identified to be at large.
The findings revealed that the victims were made to believe that a company in Liberia known as Q-net was hiring them and would give them lucrative salaries for their services once they pay them in cash to come to Liberia.
The investigation maintained that every one of the victims did pay cash to the defendants totaling US$13, 650.
In the findings, it was reported that since those defendants were residing in Guinea, Ivory Coast and Mali, they used defendant Kamara as their contact person in Liberia and collected cash from the victims for employment in Liberia.
The findings further explained that defendant Kamara rented a single room in the Neezoe Community and had the victims living there under harsh conditions because since the victims came to Liberia, they have not gotten employed neither have they received any compensation from their host
The findings revealed that defendant Kamara also collected their travel documents to include passports and lasissez- passez in order to prevent or monitor their movements.
