The Acting Judge Advocate General of the Armed Forces of Liberia, Major Thomas Bombo has apologized to Bong citizens for the recent incident involving an AFL personnel SSGT Kaita Musa Jr. and others for undressing a citizen in the county.
It can be recalled on February 21, 2020; Daigai Woodh a cyclist of Totota, Lower Bong was undressed and paraded with him (Daigai Woodah) through the principal streets of Gbarnga by SSGT Kaita Musa Jr. and some members of the Armed Forces of Liberia on grounds that he stole a motorbike belonging to Kaita Musa Jr.
The AFL personnel’s recent action has been condemned by Bong County citizens and they are calling on the AFL Chief of Staff to disrobe SSGT Musa from the Army, because his recent action has the propensity to destabilize the high earned reputation of the gallant men and women of the AFL.
Moreover, the Motorcyclists President of Bong County, Sam B. Elott has expressed total dissatisfaction over the manner in which his Totota Coordinate was ill-treated by Kaita Musa Jr. and his followers in the county.
According to Elder, victim Woodah’s wife has divorced him, on ground that her husband was undressed and many women saw his nakedness.
But, speaking at a press conference on February 29, 2020 at the Camp Tubman Military Barracks in Gbarnga, the Acting Judge Advocate General of the Armed Forces of Liberia, Major Thomas Bombo said the AFL subscribed to the respect for the rule of law as a guiding principle for the growth of any democratic institution, adding it is in this regard that the AFL high command wants to use this medium to apologize to the peace loving people of Bong County for the recent incident in which one of their citizens was ill-treated by some AFL personnel.
“As I speak all of the soldiers including the ring leader SSGT Kaita Musa Jr. that were involved in the incident have been arrested and presently detentsined at the Edward B. Kesselee (EBK) Military Barracks,” Major Bombo stressed.
According to Major Bombo, on February 28, 2020, the Chief of Staff, Prince C. Johnson III dispatched a team of Military Police personnel to Totota and Gbarnga City to investigate the situation in the county.
Additionally, the AFL is appealing to the people of Bong County to remain calm and assured the citizens that those involved will be dealt with in keeping with the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) and the result from the proceedings will be made public to the citizens in the county.
