The Monrovia City Police yesterday broke down market stalls in the commercial district of Water Side and those affected areas were Mechlin Street, Water Street and Front Street.
The exercise by the Monrovia City Police is in line with the measures announced by the Liberian government to avoid over crowdedness in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, of which Liberia now has three confirmed cases.
Our reporter who visited the scene saw yellow front-loader machines demolishing the entire market stalls in the vicinity.
According to Some market women, the situation has left them frustrated and very disappointed in the Government of Liberia and wondered how they will really make ends meet at this time of the crisis.
”I don’t have money to buy food for my family; I depend on my petty business to survive and now I don’t know where to start from,” Businesswoman Ma Musu lamented.
