The Bea Mountain Mining Corporation (BMMC) has begun distributing over 200 packages of rice and assorted food items to vulnerable women in its concession areas, a gesture aimed at bringing relief and joy to host communities during the festive season.
On Thursday, December 12, the company’s Community Relations Department launched the initiative, targeting women in communities such as Kinjor, Jenneh Brown, Jawajeh Marvoh, Jikandor, Malina, Korma Weija, Tahn, and Weajue, among others.
Each package includes rice, milk, sugar, onions, cooking oil, salt, and vita, ensuring recipients have access to essential food supplies for the Christmas celebrations.
During the distribution, madam Hawa Massaquoi, BMMC’s Community Relations Gender Officer, emphasized that the initiative is part of the company’s commitment to supporting the most vulnerable members of its host communities.
“Our goal is to put smiles on the faces of women, especially the elderly, who may not have the means to provide for themselves during this festive season,” Massaquoi said.
She added that BMMC remains mindful of older women, particularly those who are unable to continue farming or afford basic necessities, and prioritizes such initiatives to alleviate their hardships.
Madam Massaquoi also praised the peaceful and cooperative relationship between BMMC and the citizens of the affected communities.
She reiterated the company’s gratitude for the ongoing collaboration, which she said underpins the success of its community-oriented programs.
The impact of the distribution was immediately visible, as women who received the food packages expressed their heartfelt gratitude to BMMC.
Many were seen smiling and voicing their appreciation for the company’s consistent support, particularly during challenging times.
One of the beneficiaries, an elderly woman from Kinjor, said, “This gesture means so much to us. It shows that BMMC cares about the people in its communities. We are very grateful.”
The rice distribution is part of a broader effort by BMMC to give back to its host communities and foster goodwill during the holiday season.
This initiative underscores the company’s dedication to social responsibility and its commitment to improving the lives of those in its operational areas.
As the festive season draws closer, BMMC’s timely intervention has brought much-needed relief to many families, ensuring they can celebrate Christmas with dignity and joy.
