First Carreysburg Cup Hits Semis

The stage is set in Kenema City, Sierra Leone for the official kickoff of the Semifinals rounds of the Carreysburg International Cup beginning this afternoon with four of the six clubs that participated in the tournament facing off for a space to the grand finale.
The tournament witnessed the group stage in the last four days with thrilling matches played among six different team; many of which, are from the country where it is being hosted.
The Carreysburg international Cup is a pre-season soccer tournament organized by Liberia Football Association women upper league side Shaita Angels from the township of Carreysburg.
With the current edition being the first of its kind organized by a Liberian club, it is only featuring women teams from the two countries.
The new Energy Electric Vehicle is the official lead sponsor of the tournament while Betomax and Acqua Pure are the co-sponsors for the club preparatory training program.
During the course of the group struggle, Shaita Angels booted Malema Queens out after both teams settled to a 3-all draw Tuesday Afternoon.
It was indeed a tough match day two fixture for both Shaita Angles and Malema Queens that saw outstanding performances displayed in the course of ninety minutes.
The Liberian women club advance to the semifinals as a result of the heavy win she collected last Sunday against Koya Queen on score line of seven goals to one.
Shaita Angels accumulated four points in the group stage by scoring 10 goals and conceding four.
For Malema Queens, the task was such a heavy one because they were only able to collect a point from the group stage by scoring a total of four goals while conceding five.
Other clubs in the semifinal alongside the host are Kahula Queens, Roya Queens and FC Kallon female from Sierra Leone.
The two teams booted out so far at the event are Malema Queens and Rising Queens while the participating teams are hopeful that they will have an opportunity to visit other nations in the sub-region during the subsequent editions of the competition at the end of other football season in the future.
