A Human Right Defender based in Canada, Stanley Quaye, has termed the final ruling into the case involving Jessica Lloyd versus the American Missionary issued by Judge Nelson Chinneh as the greatest injustice in Liberia’s history.
According to him, negotiations are on the way to secure a visa and legal team for Jessica Lloyd in the United States.
Mr. Quaye added that he has spoken with numerous human rights organizations, and they have expressed willingness to assist Jessica Lloyd naming the leadership of the Union of Liberian Associations in the Americas.
He also blasted at the Liberian authorities for what he called “The inability of the Government of Liberia to protect its citizens.”
Mr. Quaye maintained that Liberia is a zoo where dangerous wild animals without conscience are in charge of decision-making especially in the Judiciary and Legislative branches of government.
“In the Judiciary, these wild animals called “Judges” have infested and polluted the entire justice system with injustice, bribery, and corruption,” he said.
He also lamented that the failure of the Legislature to reach a consensus on what should be done with Judge Chinneh confirmed that the Legislature is occupied by a group of wild animals that have no humanity and leadership in their hearts but are only focus is on money.
He called for the impeachment of Speaker Fonati Koffa and asked the United States government to place sanctions on him and Nelson Chinneh.
Mr. Quaye explained that Speaker Koffa has been in constant communication with the family of Lucas Richards, adding that President Boakai should tackle the problem of injustice through judiciary reform.
Meanwhile, Human Right Defender Quaye unveiled that plans are on the way to sue the American Missionary Lucas Richard who the Liberian Court rendered not guilty in a case where he was accused of attempting to murder his Liberian fiancée Jessica Lloyd, will to be sued in Lowa, USA.
The American Missionary stood trial on allegations of Aggravated Assault and Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder against his fiancee Lloyd was adjudged not guilty by Criminal Court B at the Temple of Justice on Wednesday, April 17, 2014.
In a Tuesday, September 19, 2023, ruling, a U.S citizen and a Christian missionary from the Creekside Church, Lucas Richard was charged with the commission of the crimes: Criminal Attempt To Commit Murder and Aggravated Assault which is in violation of Chapter 10 and 14 respectively, section 10.1 and 1420 of the revised penal law of Liberia, pending trial by a court of competent jurisdiction.
Magistrate John L Griggs of the Bushrod Island Magisterial Court disclosed the court’s position after Richard inflicted wounds on Jessica when he reportedly attempted to murder her.
However, the situation took an opposite turn after the court informed Jessica’s legal team that she didn’t provide sufficient evidence that warranted a guilty verdict on Richards thereby exonerating him.
